GSM limited was incorporated in 1999
Karl Sugrue, Dip SM, has a long track record working in Health and Safety both in the U.K and Ireland Karl completed an International Diploma in Risk and Safety Management with the British Safety Council in 1989, having completed 5 years work experience with the British Safety Council.
Throughout this time Karl worked with the British Safety Council as a safety auditor working with various commercial businesses in the U.K.His work involved risk assessments, conducting safety courses, also designing and implementing safety management systems. The main clientele Karl worked with at this time was the Ministry of Defence.
In 1990 and worked as an independent safety consultant, mainly carrying out work on behalf of the C.I.F. (Construction Industry Federation) During this time Karl worked with many high profile companies ranging from Dairy Producers to companies in Aviation. In September 1999 Karl formed General Safety Managers to manage Risk Assessments for the construction industry on behalf of insurance companies and brokers such as Hibernian, Aon, London General and Groupama. Throughout this time General Safety Managers have carried out over 20,000 risk assessments for some 2,500 clients.
In 2008 Karl saw an opportunity in the market place to assess office safety, specifically to carry out VDU (Visual Display Unit), environmental and physiological assessments on behalf of businesses to ensure they are compliant with the new regulations introduced in 2007. From an employers point of view it is imperative that they have certain conditions in place so that they minimise the risk of personal injury to employees resulting in personal claims being sought.
As well as having an International Diploma in Risk and Safety Management, Karl also holds a Diploma in Marketing and is a member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
